Dirt Race

It’s a battle of technology, design & speed. The combatants of this battle are required to design a remote control, wireless car which should be robust and vigorous enough to be able to move on a dirt track. Then, a race among the players would be conducted in which their very own designed cars will be made to compete against others, the tough yet the fastest one wins. The participant should manage to manifest it’s aptness to get over pits & gulfs & pass all the way through a track of mud & dirt with speed & finish the race. For the student, this event will turn out to be a practical implication of the subjects being employed to do the designing. It will help in leaving a clear-cut and coherent effect of the concept over ones’ mind, embracing higher order intelligence.

Key points

  • Remote control
  • Wireless car
  • Race on a dirt track

Task

Design a wireless car and introduce them over dirt track for race.

Judging

The participants will be judged on the basis of who designs an efficient wireless, remote controlled car. The designed car will be made to race. Whichever car comes first, and takes the least minutes, wins the race.

Robowars

The hard hearted robotic warfare: The entrants are supposed to design a remote control robot. Not merely a robot, but complemented by tactical weapons to destroy the rivals’ robot. The opponents will be put into combat & will have to wreck & annihilate & eliminate the foe using those weapons. The one standing still till the end wins the fight. The participating student will get to learn even the smallest of the notions and get into the depth of the subject. Not only the subject, it will also help the student in dealing with embedded programming too, serving as dual utilization.

Key points

  • Remote control robot
  • Attached weapons
  • War among the robots

Task

Design a remote controlled robot with weapons. The robots are to fight against each other.

Judging

The participants will be judged on the basis of who designs a methodical wireless, remote controlled robot which is powerful enough to last long when made to fight against the other. The one standing still till the end, wins.

Concreto

Be it tensile or compressive, we’ve done enough number of experiments to estimate the strength of the concrete blocks. It’s time now for the participants to actually fabricate those concrete blocks. Yes, this time it’s not just testing or a mere experiment, they actually need to fabricate concrete blocks of given specifications. Not just shaping of the blocks is required but what needs to be done is to make them enduring, durable and strong enough to pass the tests of compression, weight & size distortion. This will lead the student in actually dealing with stuff they just studied about, pushing them closer to the subject. And also, it’ll be fun for them as this is something not anyone does very often.

Key points

  • Shape concrete blocks
  • Tests for properties

Task

Forge some concrete blocks of given specification such that they pass the test for various properties.

Judging

The participants will be judged on the basis of who fabricates apt concrete blocks of appropriate shape and size and which satisfies the requirements of a first class concrete block.

Surveying

How about taking the basic knowledge of surveying to a whole new level? Along with the practical implementation of the theory, the participants will explore the land in search of the treasure. The participants will have to detect and locate a given spot using surveying tools for which they will be provided with a set of coordinates. Student will get to use and then understand the surveying tools better which will develop a pragmatic approach within the student & deal with the practical subject aspects. Not just the theoretical part but this event will also help the students in gaining an experience of field work and field related issues and to learn and overcome them.

Key points

  • Locate the spot
  • Coordinates provided
  • Surveying tools

Task

Locate a spot with the help of the coordinates provided using the surveying tools.

Judging

The participants will be simply judged on the basis of who manages to locate the spot first or the fastest.

Landscape Design

Design is a plan for arranging elements in such a way so as best to accomplish a particular purpose. As an designer you design for the present with an awareness of the past for a future which is essentially unknown. This is the real secret of life – to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now.

Key points

  • Maximum 2 participants in a team
  • Plan a layout
  • Create the space on site provided
  • Time of 3 hours

Task

One has to create spaces on the site provided. Basically, the surrounding of a building is to be designed. Things to be plotted in the space should be useful, economic and attractive.

Judging

The participants will be judged on the basis of who designs an ideal layout.

Design - o- CAD

Designing over software is an art too. A CAD model is to be designed by the participants. The model is to be of mechanical parts of various machines using CAD software.

Key points

  • Mechanical parts
  • A CAD model

Task

The participants are required to design CAD model of various parts of a mechanical machine.

Judging

The participants will be judged on the basis of who judges the mechanical parts well enough to design a proper CAD model.

Line Follower

Line following Robot is a machine that can follow a path. The path can be visible like a black line on a white surface (or vice-versa) or it can be invisible like a magnetic field. Sensing a line and maneuvering the robot to stay on course, while constantly correcting wrong moves using feedback mechanism forms a simple yet effective closed loop system. As a programmer you get an opportunity to ‘teach’ the robot how to follow the line thus giving it a human-like property of responding to stimuli.

Key points

  • Automous robot
  • Follow a particular color line

Task

The participants will be given a black line on white background(or vice-versa) for robot to follow automatically.

Judging

The robot which completes the course in the shortest period of time while accurately tracking the course line from start to finish wins.

Coders Hunt

This is one of the spot on competition for those who dare to sit in front of the screens and run a marathon in their minds for nothing but to code, for those who code their heart out. In this, all the competitors aka programmers need to do is to show off their coding skills & outshine the peers. They actually are supposed to solve the given real life problems and resolve those obstacles using programmes. They also need to code the kind of problems that a calculator fails to solve. This contest will help the players in deducing their programming skills as well as the expertise in coding by brushing off the minor slips. This will obviously make student aware about his programming skills and how to surpass them. More than that, it will lead to the development of the skill and talent of how to associate the reality or the real life problems or the issues with mere codes along with the mastery over programming.

Key points

  • Real life situations
  • Calculator problems
  • Programming skills

Task

Solve the real life problems, but with the help of programs.

Judging

The participants will be judged on the basis of who successfully runs the program. In case, many participants manage to run the program, the winner will be decided on the basis of who's time is the least.

Genesis

The quintessential, yet classic event of Kronos: ‘Genesis’. The entrants will be given an opportunity to undergo the sincere placement scenario. They will be facing exactly the same scenario and procedure as followed by placement drives. It starts with a mock test out of which a few number of students are selected for the next round – Group Discussion and then the deciding round, Interview. The one who clears all the three levels becomes the winner of Genesis. This event is like the Queen Bee or the showstopper of Kronos. It is that event which secures the maximum number of participants out of all. After all, who doesn’t want to get placed? From exercising the logical mind to solve mathematical questions to speaking fluently in front of the interviewer, this event leads to the overall development of a student.

Key points

  • Placement scenario
  • Mock placement drive

Task

The participants need to undergo 3 levels i.e. Mock test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
